Is your wedding date Chinese parent-approved?

Sanity-check your date for the cultural stuff you may not care about, but your parents just might.

What we check

Ghost Month

The seventh lunar month is traditionally a time for spirits and ancestors. Some families avoid weddings all month, especially on the Ghost Festival, the 15th day.

Qingming

Qingming is Tomb-Sweeping Day, when families visit their ancestors’ graves. Some prefer not to hold a wedding on the same day.

Zodiac clashes

In the Chinese calendar, each day is said to clash with one zodiac animal. Add your birthdays and we’ll check whether it matches either of you.

The Chinese almanac

The almanac marks days as good or bad for activities like getting married. We check its wedding recommendation. If neither is listed, we treat the date as neutral.

Every family follows different traditions. Ask yours which ones matter before booking.
